Benartex Ambassador Project: Quarter 2 - Anyone Can Quilt!

I combined my second Benartex Project with my first Beginning Quilting Class. It was so much fun to create a simple, but impressive block for the class and create a quilt alongside the students.

Using the fabric line Flora and Fauna Forest by Amanda Murphy I was able to create this beautiful quilt! This quilt uses 12 fat quarters and 3 yards of backing fabric. The binding comes from cutting the fat quarters precisely and creates very minimal waste. I love how bright this fabric line is, along with the cute forest animals popping up around this quilt.

The quilt block uses only 2 shapes and is very repetitive. There's also one slightly complex seam to allow the quilter a little challenge within this block. Showcasing the fact that quilts can have simple complexity with impressive results.

Demo - how to baste a quilt during class.

Benartex donated fabric for the class! This allowed for the entire class to be accessible for many new quilters to get their feet wet in quilting without having to add on the extra cost of purchasing fabric. I cannot thank Benartex enough for their generosity!

The Textile Art Center of Madison has become one of my favorite places to be! Between this class and another project I'm working on I've been spending my Wednesdays at TAC throughout the entire month of May.

Student Quilts!
