Benartex Ambassador Project: Quarter 1 - Precuts

I am thrilled to be a Benartex Brand Ambassador for 2024! This is such an exciting opportunity and I can’t wait to share with you all the fun things I make this year using Benartex fabric.

First up, a project using precuts from the fabric line Vibrancy by Amanda Murphy.

I was drawn to the bright colors and whimsical pattern of this fabric line. Using Benartex’s 5x5 inch precuts I was able to create a quilt that incorporated each of the fabrics in the collection. Using precuts helps speed along the quilting process. Especially if your creating 2 at a time half square triangles!

All the Half Square Triangles!

This quilt is made up of 144 squares. Each square is made up by making half square triangles into another half square triangle. Is there a name for this type of block?!?! A 3/4 square triangle? What’s great about 3/4 square triangles, is that you need just as many squares to begin with as you will need in the end. Easy quilt math!

Sashing and Boarders

I love having a neutral to tie bright colors together. In this case the fabric line has a wonderful mostly white fabric that is incorporated beautifully into this quilt. This allowed all the other fabrics to pop!

Quilting

Figuring out how to quilt this quilt came naturally to me. Allowing the quilting to blend and not distract from letting the fabric be the star. I did this by creating straight grid lines across the quilt. Simple quilting also allowed me to play with the back, I chose two coordinating thread colors to give variation to the back. Disclaimer: if you ever consider doing this make sure your thread tension is properly set and not pulling the bobbin thread to the front side of the quilt.

Photoshoot!

Finally, I took the quilt on a photoshoot. It was a chilly January day, but the lighting was just right, and the wooded backdrop made the quilt pop! I’m always a fan of treating a quilt like a cape!

If you’ve made it this far, Thanks!

As a first brand project I am very pleased with the outcome! It was a fun quilt to make and document the process. Do you have any ideas for my next project? Let me know - send me a message on Instagram! @quarterlifeleap
