Artist Statement:

Kaitlin Esche-Lyon is a Madison, WI based modern quilter. Having a background in architecture, she brings unique geometries and spatial awareness to quilting. She uses a mix of traditional piecing and foundation paper piecing quilting techniques. All of her quilts use bright eye-catching colors. Esche-Lyon’s hope is to inspire others through her art, and spread the joy and comfort that it exudes.

We’ve all heard of the crisis, whether it be quarter or mid-life, when you outgrow your current situation and are in need of a change. Well what if it’s not so much a crisis but a jump, or leap, in a new direction. I’m going to take you through my journey. Are you ready? The ups, the downs, the excitement and preparedness, the worry and self-doubt, and everything in between.

I landed on quilting in mid 2020, and fell completely in love with the art within the craft. I’m self taught and love a challenge! I leaped in the right direction, but where will it take me? I guess we’ll find out together!
